Robert Cohler Streeper Jr., 64, died Friday, Nov. 17, 2017, of kidney failure after a short stay at Hagerstown Health Center.

Born Sept. 2, 1953, he was the son of Robert Kohler Streeper Sr. and Elizabeth (Thompson) Streeper, and brother of Betsy Schoonover of Greencastle, Pa., and Markley Streeper.

Robert was a graduate of Pennsylvania State University and lived in Laurel, Md., with Joan E. McNeil (deceased), while he worked as a computer programmer for Goddard on the Hubble Space telescope, Allied and other space-technology contractors.

He spent his retirement years in Hagerstown, enjoying time with the McNeil family, singing for the Otterbein United Methodist Church choir and participating in its Steeple People Sunday School class, walking to the art museum, volunteering at The Maryland Theatre as an usher, lawn bowling and as a member of the local ornithology club.

He is survived by his mother, Elizabeth (Thompson) Streeper; sister, Betsy Schoonover, and niece, Laura Schoonover; nephews, Michael and Ryan Schoonover, and Donovan Streeper. He also is survived by his longtime close friends, Paul McNeil and family, Mary, Charlemagne, Lyric and Fiona and Craig and Mary WIlderson and also, Pete McNeil family, Linda, Leo and Ian.

A memorial service will be Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017, at 3 p.m. at Otterbein United Methodist Church, 108 E. Franklin St., Hagerstown.
