Grab spreads reach across Indonesia with GrabCar - Marketing Interactive

Grab, Southeast Asia’s leading transportation service, has partnered with PT. Angkasa Pura to launch GrabCar Airport across seven airports in Sumatra, Indonesia. These are Kualanamu International Airport, Medan; Silangit International Airport, North Tapanuli; Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II International Airport, Palembang; Raden Inten II International Airport, Bandar Lampung; Minangkabau International Airport, Padang; Sultan Syarif Kasim II International Airport, Pekanbaru; and Silampari Airport, Lubuklinggau.

It is the first transportation service to assist all seven of Sumatra’s operators. Now users of the application will have a specialized GrabCar Airport option and be able to head to official pick up points in the airport.

These new additional locations in Sumatra create a grand total of 14 airports in Indonesia in which Grab is available, showing a continued support for Grab and the Ministry of Tourism’s joint campaign #JelajahIndonesiaLebihDekat. The campaign, which is part of the ‘Wonderful Indonesia’ program, is directed towards the goal of providing millions of tourists as well as the  local community with safe, comfortable and convenient transportation services across Indonesian airports.

Grab hopes that the launch will see a rise in both domestic and foreign visitors across Sumatra island by crafting a more stress-free travel experience. Additional advantages include the app’s cashless payment system, airport discounts, and other benefits given by GrabRewards within the Travel category.

President director of Grab’s partner company, PT Angkasa Pura, Muhammad Awaluddin said, “As the operator of world-class airports, Angkasa Pura II continuously provides the best service that meets security, safety and comfort standards that complies with applicable regulations. This partnership shows our commitment to improve our service quality for all users in 16 airports managed by Angkasa Pura II.”

According to the Press Relase, a launch event was held to commemorate GrabCar Airport’s new partnerships. It was inaugurated by coordinating minister of maritime affairs and fisheries, Luhut Binsar Panjaitan, governor of Sumatera Utara, Edy Rahmayadi, director general of land transport ministry of transportation Budi Setiadi, the head of lake Toba authority Arie Prasetyo, director of service and facilities PT. Angkasa Pura II, Ituk Herarindri, and president of Grab Indonesia Ridzki Kramadibrata. Other attendees included  tourism partners from the Kualanamu International Airport and Medan.

Coordinating minister of maritime affairs and fisheries Luhut Binsar Panjaitan said, “Indonesia’s tourism industry needs to be supported with adequate facilities and infrastructure as well as Airports that has become the entry gate for domestic and foreign visitors. Therefore, I am confident that Grab’s commitment to support the Indonesian tourism sector by presenting GrabCar Airport in many airports in Indonesia and can be the solution to ease the mobility of visitors for tours and business visits.”

Governor of North Sumatra, Edy Rahmayadi also adds,” I really appreciate GrabCar’s presence in Kualanamu and Silangit airports as well as other airports in Sumatra that completes Indonesia’s transportation system while providing safe, comfortable and affordable transportation options. Visitors who enter from airports will be able to continue their journey easily by using Grab’s app.”
