TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned airport operator Angkasa Pura I (AP I) has implemented a social distancing policy in airports under its management, including the Bali Airport. This is done to prevent the spread of the coronavirus or COVID-19.
Based on the strategically-placed visual guidelines in Bali's Ngurah Rai Airport, which is overseen by Angkasa Pura I, people are urged to maintain a minimum distance of one-meter with each other.
“We urge the public entering the airport to show self-discipline and adhere to the policy,” said Angkasa Pura I president-director Faik Fahmi on Wednesday, March 18.
The visual markers placed on the airport floors guide people to maintain a fixed distance which can be seen in the airport’s check-in area, security checkpoints, the queueing area in front and inside elevators, boarding passes, and every other area passed by visitors.
Elevators are also limited to carrying five people on each trip. Ngurah Rai Airport’s boarding lounge is also designed to arrange people’s seating positions with an empty gap between each people.
“Angkasa Pura I have implemented this social distancing policy in public service areas to suppress the possibility of spreading the coronavirus,” said Fahmi.
